Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)
The Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) is a public research institution under the responsibility of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation (MESRI). The CNRS Institute of Physics (INP) focuses on research thematics related to radiation, matter, and fundamental laws. Those studies come with two main motivations : understanding the world, and answering current societal challenges. The CNRS Institutes of Engineering and System Sciences (INSIS) and of Information Sciences (INS2I) also support IQFA.
Université Grenoble Alpes Université Grenoble Alpes
Anchored on its territory, multidisciplinary and open to the international, Université Grenoble Alpes brings together the main public higher education institutions of Grenoble and Valence. In association with the national research organisations and the international research facilities present on its territory, it builds its research and innovation policy on a global scale. As a driving force for progress and a laboratory for initiatives, it acts with its many partners to accompany the evolution of society.
Institut Néel Institut Néel
Institut NEEL is a laboratory for fundamental research in condensed matter physics, enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. We explore a vast field of science: superconductivity, quantum fluids, new materials, crystallography, surface science, quantum nanoelectronics, nanomechanics, nonlinear and quantum optics, spintronics, magnetism… The Institut Néel has exceptional expertise in advanced technology, closely integrated with its research projects. The Institute’s engineers and technicians, assigned to specialist technical groups but working in close proximity with the research teams, make a direct contribution to scientific progress. In close cooperation with universities, the Institut NEEL is involved in teaching and training at the three levels of tertiary education: the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral diplomas. Training of about one hundred PhD students is a vital element in the success of the Institute’s research activities. In addition, the Institute actively cooperates in the organisation of many International Science Schools.
CEA Leti CEA Leti
CEA-Leti, a technology research institute at CEA Tech, pioneers micro and nanotechnologies, tailoring differentiating applicative solutions that ensure competitiveness in a wide range of markets. The institute tackles critical challenges such as healthcare, energy, transport and ICTs. Its multidisciplinary teams deliver solid expertise for applications ranging from sensors to data processing and computing solutions, leveraging world-class pre-industrialization facilities.

Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (ARA) is a region in southeast-central France created by the territorial reform of French Regions in 2015; it resulted from the merger of Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes. The new region came into effect on 1 January 2016, after the regional elections in December 2015. The region covers an area of 69,711 km2, making it the third largest in metropolitan France, and has a population of 7,948,287, second only to Ile-de-France. It consists of 12 departments and one territorial collectivity. Lyon is the chef-lieu of the region. This new region combines diverse geographical, sociological, economic, and cultural regions, which was already true of Rhône-Alpes, as well as Auvergne, to a lesser extent. While the old Rhône-Alpes and Auvergne regions each enjoyed a unity defined by axes of communication and the pull of their respective metropoles, the new combination is heterogeneous, and sustained lively opposition from some local officials after its creation.
Laboratoire d'Alliances Nanosciences-Energie du Futur Laboratoire d'Alliances Nanosciences-Energie du Futur
LANEF is a ‘Laboratoire d’Excellence’ or “Labex” that associates six fundamental research labs based in Grenoble: Institut Néel, IRIG, G2Elab, LNCMI, LPMMC and LiPhy. It enhances synergies across research teams, strengthens education through research, deepens connections with R&D partners, and structures international collaborations. Its strategic funding actions allow for the organisation of scientific events and the acquisition of specific equipment and offers new opportunities for students and high-level scientists to join this vibrant scientific community.
